The Adventure Therapy Project is an initiative of Kathryn Walton Consulting, bringing Adventure Based Therapy to the Southern Downs Regional Council location.
The Adventure Therapy Project will foster community, social and emotional well-being and resilience, and reduce stigma associated with mental illness and accessing mental health and suicide prevention services.
The Project aims to do this by increasing women’s participation in outdoor physical recreational activities by providing free community-driven workshops to ‘have a go’ at adventure-based activities in natural environments within a supportive atmosphere.
The workshops will support participants as they take practical action towards improved mental health/wellbeing without the stigma associated with many help-seeking behaviours. Workshops will be run by qualified instructors, facilitated by a mental health worker, and offered across various locations of the LGA.
This event is supported by funding from Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN through the Australian Government’s PHN Program.
